this was much to the dismay of my grandma who had not been consulted! 1970 fun on the farm! fashionable future farmers after returning from the merchant navy my uncle chris took on the milk round from my grandfather and began to pasteurise milk and cream in what we now call ‘the old dairy’ across from the farmhouse. chris started selling milk in plastic bottles which helped him to build up sales in lancaster as well as the glass bottles destined for the doorstep. 1980's uncle chris in the old dairy chris’ ambitions had grown and he now owned the butchers shop in hornby as well as his milk round. working around the clock and with two young children in tow he decided to sell the milk business to his eldest brother, my dad, john, so that he could focus on his butchers shop. john was now a married dairy farmer with children of his own and having the milk processing and retailing business secured his income from the milk. kids in the hay hornby butchers joe and bess 1990's in 2013, i came home to help manage the retail business and he decided to rebrand the company from brades farm dairy to lune valley dairy farm in order to make more of the family and farms heritage in the area. 2000's today our herd cow welfare traceability environment our animals graze on luscious pasture... working closely with the rspca, we are proud of our commitment to animal welfare, so you can be confident about the way we look after our animals. our animals graze on luscious pasture, giving them the freedom to express their natural behaviour. developed by the rspca and advocated by compassion in world farming, the freedom food logo has become the benchmark for keeping farm animals happy. although less than 1% of the british beef, sheep and dairy herd are produced under freedom food welfare standards you can rest assured that john and the team at lune valley dairy farm are continuing to ensure all their cows enjoy a freedom food lifestyle. straight from our farm to our customers at lune valley dairy farm we specialise in producing high quality, milk products from our own dairy herd. con
